A note to the Grand Junction women…
Hi All,
As you requested, here are some notes from our recent dialogue. Let us begin by reminding ourselves of the common law of earthly life:
The perspective we hold, where we start our thinking from, determines the path we take, the direction we move in, what we move towards, what we move away from…
as well as…
One Source, all else instruments… instruments of and to the unfolding work, the work before us now.
Community
Community is the smallest whole at this time… a reality that does not diminish the significance of the one, one’s role, one’s work; but a reality that does make clear our way of working… a way of working that shifts the question from “Who am I?” to “Why am I?” – what is my work, my role? Thus the personal work we do – e.g., the centering of self, etc. – is not an end in itself; but rather helpful/necessary preparation for work – our work, the work… all work being related to advancing our humanness. This is a big step, one that brings forth attachments, and one that requires some detaching on our part.
From Source through Instrument into the World
We can begin to see more clearly the 1 – 2 – 3 Process (see the book, “Building a Going Forward Faith”), the process that begins with the Source, the intent of the Source, versus beginning with the culture, the world of our making. Thus we can see the intended way of working as: (1) from the Source – (2) through our work, our instrumentality – (3) into the working of the world… the process by which love – the particular pattern of love now called for – enters into the working of the world… thus enabling the bringing of the world of our making into congruence with the world of intent.
Reflecting on the inner experience of the 1 – 2 – 3 process, we notice – both during and afterwards – a true sense of oneness, a oneness with the Source… a oneness that in itself creates the experience of wholeness – free from that which tugs at us, seeks to segment us, pull us apart, that which creates a sense of division within us, etc. All of which becomes seeable by reflecting on our experience of stepping onto the path of our calling, our calling of now – it’s about the women, it’s about community. Stepping onto the path of our calling of now brings with it an experience of detaching a bit from “sustaining our privacy,” to engaging the people who have been/are reaching out to us… a process of “Yes,” enabled by the notion that during lent we should seek to give up attachments versus something we give up for forty days only to take up again.
Faith
What do we have faith in, put our faith in? – not just when it is convenient, but when it is inconvenient (e.g., times when culture seeks to move us in a different direction). At this time we are being called to put faith/have faith in intent, and intended ways of working… a faith that makes visible and reminds us that original intent preceded original sin… original sin being the start point for Christian religion which organizes itself around salvation – not so much looking at intent from a life of the whole perspective.
This brings to mind my mother’s council that until you lose your fear of death, you cannot experience life. We see in these words of wisdom that “death” is not limited to the physical, but truly includes the death of attachments; and the fear that is naturally associated with losing – giving up – that to which we are attached, that which is related to existence, culture inputs, etc.
Finally, emerging from our reflection on our lives, and what has been given us, and how it has all worked out, there is no reason, no excuse for us not to have faith in the Source, faith in intent and intended ways of working… which brings forth a naming: “Virgin of No Excuses” – free from excuses, pure in the sense of being free from excuses. This being the sort of naming and visioning process that the Native Americans went through as they took up a new path, new work, new role… a very different imagery from the common one of being “free of sin.” But one that rings true given the work before us; and the truth of one Source, all else instruments… the aim of all instruments being to be free of excuses, truly free with regard to having, to putting faith in, the Source and in intent.
In writing this, it has become somewhat clear that to truly experience life, is to experience it as it is intended… which only becomes possible as the world of our making moves more and more in the direction of being congruent with intent, intended ways of working. Thus it seems certain that life as intended will be very different from life as we have come to know it (life that is a reflection of the world of our making)… a process that requires conscious effort and work on our part… a “Yes” to instrument, a “Yes” to faith in intent.
