Reflecting on Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as in heaven (MT6:10), as an expression of intent, an intent for the coming of the kingdom, brings forth some thoughts. We see within that expression – the coming of the kingdom – an unfolding with regard to the ways of living, of working and of being that are more and more congruent with intent… a seeing and understanding of intent that becomes possible through a wholistic embracement of the Source, and a life of the whole perspective.
With regard to will, we see…
- Thy will can, and is necessary for, advancing humanness, fulfilling the intent of the Source.
- My will seeks to improve existence, bring about improvement consistent with my wish, my image.
- Surrendering to Thy Will, saying “Yes” to wholistic intent, frees my will to move in the direction of congruence with intent, and harmony with intended ways of working.
- Faith, going forward faith, becomes much more wholistic, particularly with regard to the here and unfolding now – the kingdom coming process – and the hereafter – the process of our returning.
As we reflect and dialogue on faith, it may be useful to remember:
Neither grace, the grace commonly associated with salvation, nor love, the love essential to becoming, can enter a self-serving heart.
What is true for the one would seem to be equally true for a community, a country, a people.
