The Here and Unfolding Now Conscience Plank
This morning after our guests left to catch an early flight out of Grand Junction, I read some of John (Greek version of the New Testament which, should I fail to mention this reference in future writings, is the only version I am reading these days… it just seems to flow), and had one of those “seeing again for the first time” experiences…
JN 8:7 – The one of you who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.
JN 8:9 – But having heard and being convicted by the conscience, they went out one by one…
which brought to my mind “A Seeing of Truth“: the words on each side were on a plank… it was the conscience plank. And this morning seeing so clearly that the conscience plank of what is unfolding now is “If love is not present in the process, love will not be present in the outcomes” – the mirror of “Whoever is without sin, throw the first rock.” What was so powerful was that these words of John were so confirming of what has come before – strengthening the previous seeing which “just came” on that morning of the seeing of truth.
And reading further, JN 8:15 – You judge according to the flesh, I judge no one.
Which brought forth Pope Francis’ image of the shift: “Move from rules and judgement to love and mercy.” I could see love and mercy as being present in the here and unfolding now conscience plank. The conscience plank for this time of becoming – what is unfolding now.
And then reading further JN 8:16 – But even if I judge, My judgement is true, because I am not alone, but I and (the ) Father who has sent Me. And JN8:17 – In your law it has been written that the witness of two men is true.
Which brought forth the necessity for two or more, yin/yang partnering, and community is the smallest whole. And finally, I could see ‘the flesh’ as being about existence, coming from below; with a focus on lust that seems to occlude, act as if, it was the only sin; not just one of the seven deadly. And now, at this time, conscience is to be organized around love being present in the process – having faith in intent – such that when love is present, the ‘sins’ of existence will diminish and, through the upward enfolding-unfolding process of life and the continued presence of love in the process, will become nonexistent. That’s the seeing of this morning – perhaps a bit sketchy, but hopefully some seeds for dialogue.
