In the beginning,
our very first act of disobedience
was to interfere with the intended working of the world…
In the beginning, at the earliest of human times… through the intentional act of the Creator… there emerged from the earth, a people – a living people of earth. The people enjoyed an unending abundance, constant happiness, and real peace. A harmony existed among all the creatures of earth.
At the start of the beginning, the intention of the Creator was made known. The Creator put forth instructions or laws by which the people were to live in community. Now the people, being unique among life’s creatures, could choose to obey or not to obey the Creator’s laws. The people, by intent, were endowed with free will – and as such were not subject to the automatic behavior and obedience practiced by the other creatures of earth. Somewhere along the way, temptation became ever more present. Succumbing to this temptation, the people chose to act from themselves, rather than live in accord with the Creator’s instructions.
The people became increasingly knowledgeable, but decreasingly wise. More and more they used their knowlege to serve themselves; less and less regard did they have for the Creator’s intention. As time passed – as they progressed along their chosen path – the people began to experience illness, sorrow, war, strife, woe and emptiness… the opposite of the beginning. Earth, the very home of life itself, became threatened.
That was then…
Now is now…
The past is past…
The future is yet to unfold. Now is the time to uncover a new path – a new way of being.
The people are beginning to awaken.
Conscience is being stirred to life.
Love is seeking to enter.
Hearts are opening themselves to wisdom.
Intuition is coming into play.
There is a growing sense of a calling…
A calling to reclaim our heritage… our heritage of peace and wholeness…
A calling to fulfill our role… our role in advancing humanness.
An ethic is striving to emerge…
An ethic for living wisely on this earth…
An ethic born from essential truths…
… the truth of our being a people of earth.
… the truth of our shared humanness.
… the truth of our being members of the community of life.
… the truth of our common Source.
… the truth of our calling to become fully and truly human.
… the truth that all are called, and each may choose.
Now is the time of potential…
Now is the time of potential, a time for moving towards wholeness, away from that which divides… a time for taking up pursuits that move us in the direction of that which works for all children, all children in the world.
As we take up the work before us, the work of advancing our humanness, the work called for, the necessary work of this time, it is important that we hold in mind and reflect upon the common law of earthly life… a useful orientation and understanding for sustaining the integrity of our efforts, for our being faithful to the work, and for ensuring/enabling our progression along the path of intent, the path of our potential to become fully and truly human… the path of hope, hope for all children, hope for the whole of life – to which we, through the intent of the Source, clearly belong. The common law of earthly life:
Ultimately, the perspective we hold, where we start our thinking from,
determines the path we take, the direction we move in,
what we move towards, what we move away from.
The work of moving towards wholeness, away from that which divides, requires a perspective of wholeness… wholeness of Source, wholeness of intent, wholeness with regard to life… wholeness with regard to the here and unfolding now.
Taking up the work, developing serious intent with regard to the work before us, requires particular seeing and understanding… seeing and understanding related to the building of going forward faith… an understanding of and openness to that which is striving to emerge… a seeing and understanding which itself is developed through reflection and dialogue… reflecting and dialoguing that calls upon and works through intuition, the intuition of wholeness… reflecting and dialoguing that bring clarity to work – to our called work, the unfolding work of ourselves, of our communities, of our country.
The ongoing work of making visible the path of potential, our potential to become fully and truly human, has and continues to bring forth images and understandings related to wholeness… wholeness of philosophy, wholeness of perspective, wholeness of life, and increasing clarity with regard to wholeness of Source. What follows is a series of writings, a collection of thoughts that have emerged from this work… thoughts related to this unfolding work, thoughts that, through reflection and dialogue, will hopefully enable the development of the nature of faith required for sustaining our commitment to the path and to the work.
