As we worked on intentional community entrepreneuring, we spent a little time looking at philosophy behind concepts – concepts we might be drawn to, concepts that on the surface make sense… but could have surprising philosophy behind them. For example, the concept of limited government. If by limited government, you mean (have a philosophy behind it) unrestrained self centered extraction of the kind that collapsed the economy of our country and the world, that is one approach. On the other hand, if behind the concept of limited government, you had a philosophy organized around “adding no infrastructural burden,” that would generate a very different approach. This process of examining philosophy behind concepts was very enlightening and energizing – and I think ongoingly useful to us.
