Blessed are the poor in spirit because of them is the kingdom of heaven (Mt5:3).
If I therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do. (Jn13:14-15).
The words of Christ, Follow me (Mt8:22), compel us to seeing Christ as process, as the intended way, leading to our reflecting on his words, his teachings, his life, death and resurrection, from a process perspective, the intended way of each and all of humanity for fulfilling our intentional purpose… Jesus providing the pattern of the process: I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.
It seems we have a habit of reading much of what he said as speaking only of himself… or perhaps pertaining only to the disciples or those who have chosen the religious life. And yet, when we put on a new perspective, a life of the whole perspective, a process perspective from which we hear his words as leading and guiding the way of advancing our humanness, the way of becoming fully, truly and wholly human, as intended, we gain a fresh and true and life-giving insight to following the way and the truth and the life (Jn14:6). Leading to our seeing his words about himself from the perspective of their showing us the way for each of us taking up our work and role on this earth… words intended to come from our hearts and minds… words expressing the process, the way of intent, the way of our being and becoming intentional people.
All of which brings to mind, particular words of Christ: Father, I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do (Jn17:4).
