A source image, an image of what is required of us, for developing planetary ethics…
The work for which we are now being called upon is to bring about the being integration of humankind’s essential virtue of compassion with the essential virtue of the land upon which we live and work… remembering the Source of both is the Creator. Holding both harmoniously and equally within our heart of hearts makes real the possibility of peace for humanity, and living in harmony with the processes of earth.
Reflecting on the image, its wholeness, seeing its right and good working, and understanding the systemic relatedness of its elements will, through inner processing and dialoguing, provide a means out of which can emerge planetary ethics, true planetary ethics – living principles that will enable our ways of living and working to be right and good for humanity, and equally right and good for earth, the whole of life, and all of its members.
Work and roles are the practical means by which these ethics become real for us… work and roles, understood and taken on, not only for ourselves, our families, and our communities, but also for the systems, processes and institutions critical for the healthy working of humanity, and for the healthy working of life itself.
